Doncaster customers could get compensation - 07/04/2008
People in Doncaster who lost money through a local financial advisor could be in line for compensation according to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
The FSCS is the UK's statutory compensation scheme for customers of regulated financial services firms and provides a free service to consumers.
The claimants could be eligible for up to £48,000 if they lost money as a result of their dealings with the financial advisor, who is no longer trading and found to be in default by the FSCS.
The financial advisory firm, based in Old Rossington, has been found by FSCS to be unable to pay claims against the firm, so any customers who have lost money could be able to make a claim for compensation.
Jonathan Clark, Director of Claims, said: "FSCS aims to provide an effective and efficient compensation service for consumers and helps maintain confidence in the financial services sector. It is important that we let consumers know that we may be able to help if they have lost money and the firm can't pay."
FSCS covers investments, deposits, insurance, mortgage advice and arranging and advice about general insurance and arranging of policies.
Consumers who believe they may have a claim should contact FSCS on 020 78927300, or by email at enquiries@fscs.org.uk.
The FSCS aims to put consumers back into the position they would have been in had they not invested. The compensation limit for investment claims is £48,000 per person.
