Suffolk man sues NHS Trust - 23/11/2007An Ipswich man has secured a High Court writ against a local hospital due to medical negligence charges.
Malcolm Wright lost a leg following a 2005 knee replacement operation, due to surgical complications at Ipswich Hospital.
The 61-year-old has launched a £100,000 compensation claim because he says the operation was improperly performed.
Mr Wright says that he has been forced into early retirement as a result of the amputation - and that the six-figure sum will cover the loss of future earnings.
The writ says that Mr Wright is seeking "damages of personal injury and loss in respect of amputation of his lower right limb in consequence of a negligently performed total knee replacement on the 21st November 2005 at the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust".
A spokesperson for the Trust said: "We will co-operate fully with the NHS litigation authority and Mr Wright's legal team and the case will be heard in due course."
