Passengers sue BA for personal injury - 20/02/2008The plight of the BA flight 38 from Beijing, which crash landed at Heathrow airport on the 17 th of January was well publicized. Although all 152 passengers and crew were evacuated safety , a cause of the accident has yet to be established leading to concerns of flight safety amongst the general public. BA issued a statement praising its staff for their professional handling of the event, but there were many passengers on board who still suffered some form of trauma from the experience.
One Passenger, Paul Strafford has decided to sue BA for the distress he has experienced from the crash landing, claiming that he has been highly anxious and unable to sleep since the accident. Although this would appear to be a no fault situation, with BA staff doing all they could to handle the event, personal injury lawyers have said that passengers who were traumatised by the accident could win up to £85,000 in a personal injury claim. Although BA has been in talks with all the passengers, more will surely follow and sue.
