People more willing to make personal injury claims - 13/03/2008People are now more willing to make personal injury claims than in previous years, it was said today.
According to AA Insurance, the sector is seeing more personal injury claims lodged than before, at a rate of about ten per cent each year.
Chief executive officer Andrew Strong said more accident victims are coming forward to make claims and added that damage to property and vehicles has also increased.
Although he did not suggest any particular reason why this may be the case, he said it will mean that the insurance industry is not likely to become profitable in the next two years.
"In order to reach profitability by 2009, premiums will have to rise by at least 20 per cent over the next two years," Mr Strong said.
In related personal injury claims news, a man who tried to sue Marks & Spencer for compensation lost his high court battle yesterday.
Alexander Martin-Sklan claimed a rogue grape in the store s car park had caused him to slip and injure himself.
