Personal Injury reform on its way - 11/04/2008It’s what insurers have been waiting for, as the Government has set a date for the next stage of reform of the personal injury system.
The Ministry of Justice has told insurers that personal injury reform will be introduced in the next two months.
Since the Government first published its proposals for a faster personal injury claims system back in April 2007, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) have been pushing the Government to follow up with recommendations.
Stephen Haddrill, the ABI’s director general, has spoken for the urgency in this matter saying: “Every day without change is another day of unnecessary delay for claimants.”
During a meeting last week with justice minister Bridget Prentice, ABI director general Stephen Haddrill was told an announcement on the next stage of the process will be made in the next couple of months.
Advertisement “Obviously there will be disappointment in terms of the delay,” said an ABI spokesman. “We pressed her on this and were told it would emerge in the next two months.”
The MoJ had initially said its response would be released early in the New Year.
