Wee Jimmie Krankie in theatre terror - 10/09/2007Glasgow City Council is to take a theatre to court after a terrifying panto accident involving beloved 80s entertainers, the Krankies.
Wee Jimmie Krankie - real name Janette Tough - sustained a fractured skull and broke her collarbone after falling from a mechanical beanstalk in December 2004.
She has since successfully claimed £130,000 from beanstalk builders Steeldeck.
Now, the council say that four health and safety laws were broken by the city's Pavilion theatre, the Daily Record reports.
However, a theatre spokesperson hit back at the potential charges, saying that "when the general manager Iain Gordon got his theatre licence renewed just a couple of weeks ago, there were no adverse comments from environmental health, building control or the fire brigade.
"No one has ever been interviewed about this. So we are at a loss as to where this has come from."
Nevertheless, Glasgow city council has reported the breaches to the procurator fiscal - who handles health and safety complaints in Scotland.
Janette, however, refused to criticise the theatre to the newspaper: "It was the machinery that was wrong," she said, "but it didn't have to go to court and the insurance company paid up.
"This is something we have moved on from. I m not blaming anyone."
