Workplace Injury Causes Revealed - 30/03/2008Health and Safety Executives have recently released new statisticsbased on a survey attempting to find outthe main causes of accidents at work in the catering industry, in the years 2006 and 2007.
The type of thing included was serious injury that took place in the workplace and anything that resulted in employees taking more than three days sick leave.
The most probably causes of injury were found to be first off, 35% manual handling. Then came mostly slips but also trips at 28%. There was also being hit by falling or moving objects, contact with toxic substances, moving machinery and falling from a height included on the chart.
The report covered 6,138 accidents, although no overall cost could be worked out for how much money the food and drink industry lose each year via personal injury compensation acquired through claims solicitors and irretrievable work hours.
