Employers alerted by HSE after recent deaths - 30/03/2008Health and Safety Executives have released a caution to employers to be sure suitable risk assessments are being made to avoid accidents at work after two workers died from what were found to be preventable causes.
This announcement was made after the HSE took legal action against two companies within the JCB group after two of their employees, Darren Ellis and Paul McNamara, were killed. Both of whom were carrying out their everyday procedures and died in unrelated situations.
HSE Inspector Lynne Boulton said, "Both these tragic deaths were not only regrettable but also entirely preventable. Mr Ellis and Mr McNamara have each left behind two children and grieving widows who have our deepest sympathies and our thoughts go with them for their futures. All employers must learn from these tragedies that, whatever the task, it is crucial to undertake a suitable risk assessment that deals with the significant risks of that task."
It is still unclear as to whether claims solicitors were employed in order to claim compensation for both men’s deaths.
